Scooter driver severely injured in Bartlett collision

A man driving a motorized scooter was injured Wednesday morning when a car hit him in Bartlett, authorities said.

A 62-year-old man driving a 2009 Dodge Challenger north on Prospect Avenue about 10:55 a.m. made a U-turn and hit a 27-year-old man driving 2014 Cabo 125 scooter south on the same street, according to a news release from the Bartlett police.

The driver of the scooter suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Northwester Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, the news release said.

Prospect Avenue was closed between Amherst Drive and Country Drive for three hours while the police investigated. Anyone with information about the collision should call police at (630) 837-0846.
