Mundelein seeking artists to decorate town for upcoming Grand Prix bicycle race

The Mundelein Arts Commission is seeking amateur, professional and student artists to create temporary chalk art displays for the inaugural Mundelein Grand Prix bicycle race on Monday, July 19.

There are opportunities for artists to create both wall murals and pedestrian crosswalks along the race course. A small cash honorarium will be provided to artists as a thanks for their participation.

The bicycle race is part of the Intelligentsia Cup road racing series held over 10 days in different locations across the region. Organizers hope to create a "block party" atmosphere for the event, which is making its debut in downtown Mundelein this year.

Artist applications are due by Wednesday, June 30. Spots are first come, first serve.
