Unite Glenview is ready to get to work

To the Residents of Glenview:

This year's election was unlike any other in recent history in Glenview. Over 7,000 residents participated in the April 6 municipal election, and we are humbled and honored to have been chosen to serve as Trustees for the next four years. We are excited to get started and to make good on our campaign promises to deliver transparency and to build trust within the community. We hope that you will hold us accountable as we get ready to move Glenview forward.

The theme of our campaign was that "we are better together." We embodied that throughout the campaign, visiting residents in every precinct, meeting with business owners all over town, and we discovered that this Village has a wealth of talent and ideas that we simply need to bring to the surface. Residents do not elect trustees to make every decision. Trustees must provide a voice to the residents' concerns and ideals. As much as our campaign was about clarity and the rebuilding of faith and trust in leadership, this campaign was about process.

Decisions do need to be made - and not everyone will always agree with the decisions we will make. Even more so, we may not always agree with each other. It is important, then, to understand the approach we will take to every issue. We must resist the urge to react without facts, and to inflame on social media. As trustees, we pledge to review all of the facts, to listen to residents, to rely on and challenge experts, and to explain the rationale for our decisions. Part of being transparent is being accessible. We pledge to not only give members of the public opportunities to come to us - but to actually go into neighborhoods and homeowners' meetings and listen to the issues that impact all of Glenview.

Finally - it's important to recognize that there was a choice in this election - and that while we earned a majority of the votes, there are those who did not vote for us. We are encouraged by the level of engagement and the positive effect it will have on Glenview. When we look past the politics, we see opportunities to move forward together. We are truly appreciative of the support of those who voted for us, and even more appreciative of those who challenged us to be our best. Our request: Keep doing that. Hold us accountable. Stay engaged. Elections come and go. Issues that were top of mind will fade in favor of newer more persistent issues. We will work hard to earn your trust so that when issues do arise, we can manage them together.

Thank you again, Glenview. We are ready to get to work.
