Develop a Lifelong Love of Golf with Northbrook Golf Academy

Whether you want to brush up on golf skills, learn to play or introduce kids to the game, look to the golf pros at Northbrook Golf Academy.

The Academy offers programs for all ages starting this month, including a Get Golf Ready beginning class for adults and a series of early childhood and youth classes.

The first class in the Academy's Youth Golf Development Program, Little Stars, for ages 3-5, starts preschoolers with SNAG (Starting New at Golf). SNAG classes feature easy to hit balls, Velcro-style targets and simple rules to teach young golfers how to swing, putt and chip. Progressive instruction is available for ages 5-11. Lessons take place at Anetsberger Golf Course, 1750 Techny Road. Youth leagues and a travel league are also available starting in April.

"Our Academy specializes in youth development and helps young golfers achieve the level they set their sights on," said Michael Wenzel, a PGA Certified Teaching Professional and Director of Golf Instruction.

An award-winning instructor who grew up playing golf with his father, Wenzel was named among the Best Teachers in Illinois by Golf Digest for 2019-20. "No other sport allows you the opportunity to play with your kids or grandkids and spend quality time in a beautiful setting," Wenzel said. "The pure joy after hitting a great shot, getting a par or birdie on a hole and playing a memorable round is immeasurable. Golf is a game everyone can enjoy."

This spring and summer a LPGA/USGA Girls Golf program for ages 8-12, led by Melissa Goldberg, an LPGA Apprentice, and assisted by current members of the GBN Girls Golf Team, is being offered at Anetsberger Golf Course. Weekly summer youth golf programs are available starting in June for ages 8-14.
