Cook Memorial Public Library hosts Civil War chat April 12

The Libertyville-based Cook Memorial Public Library District is hosting a virtual presentation on the Civil War at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 12.

Historian Jim Gibbons will discuss the events before, during, and after the Civil War and how it claimed the lives of over 700,000 American soldiers.

Gibbons will also explain the abolishment of slavery after the war and the postwar landscape. If time allows, a question-and-answer session be held after the presentation.
