Letter: Northfield Township Supervisor Jill Brickman has dedicated her life to service of others
As April 6 approaches, hopefully many are planning to exercise our patriotic privilege to vote. In exercising this privilege, please give serious consideration to a candidate's record of performance, especially in regards to JILL BRICKMAN for Northfield Township Supervisor.
I have known Jill since she was a child and have observed her grow into an adult who has dedicated her life to the SERVICE of others. A part of that service has been as our Township Supervisor, where she not only has overseen the DEVELOPMENT and GROWTH of the Northfield Township FOOD PANTRY but also is an active volunteer at the Pantry. When Jill took over as Township Supervisor, the Food Pantry served about 200 families in need of our support.
Today it serves over 1,000 families, primarily due to Jill's leadership and engagement.
During these years, Jill has volunteered her services in a variety of other ways such as providing programs on Money Management at Inner Voice, which is an agency serving the homeless in Chicago; coordinating a program of Glenview Rotarians to reinforce reading instruction for bilingual students at Henking School in Glenview; chairing the Peace Fellows Committee; and serving on the Glenview Elderly Programs North when Thomas Place was being developed. Not afraid to get her hands dirty, Jill also has been seen collecting trash along Waukegan Road with her Rotarian colleagues!
For these and other acts of Service above Self, Jill was selected as Glenview Citizen of the Year several years ago.
Like many of you, I also am concerned about how our tax dollars are spent. During Jill's tenure as Supervisor, the services in the Township expanded while the taxes have been maintained or reduced, which again is a credit to her leadership.
This IS NOT a partisan endorsement. Please vote based on who you believe is the best person for the job regardless of party affiliation. For me, Jill Brickman is that person for the above reasons and many more. Please remember to vote.
