Letter: Ciesla, Collison, Ebhomielen and Pepoon have my vote!

I was elected as a Village Trustee on the Northbrook Village Board in 2019 after 2 years on the Plan Commission and 8 years on the Storm Water Commission.

During my first budget review, Kathryn Ciesla immediately impressed me with the depth of her financial knowledge. She has consistently demonstrated a clear commitment to fiscal responsibility in her 12+ years on the board.

Besides her financial acumen, Kathryn offers many other traits that we need from our Northbrook leaders.

In June, 2019, she asked our board to fly the pride flag at Village Hall. This request had been turned down by prior boards. Not only did our board vote to fly the pride flag in 2019 and again in 2020, but all 7 board members wore a color of the rainbow that we posted on social media.

Kathryn works hard for the entire Northbrook community. Early in the pandemic, she handed out masks for hours in the freezing rain. Keenly aware of the impact of the pandemic on community mental health, she pushed the board to find money to assist local partners such as Catch and the Josselyn Center. Kathryn Ciesla is clearly the Village President we need for the next 4 years! Elect Kathryn Ciesla as Village President!

Muriel Collison has Northbrook roots that run deep. Having previously served on the Plan Commission, Muriel is a 4th generation Northbrook resident and current Village Trustee, as was her father. Rosemary Lane is even named after her grandmother!

With young children, Muriel is keenly aware of the impact major developments have on schools and public services. Muriel shows flexibility and welcomes new businesses into town, but if those businesses disregard the rules or do not maintain their properties, Muriel holds them accountable. Muriel advocates for our community. She combs through the details of every presentation and points out the pros and cons for our community.

Muriel knows the importance of the Plan Commission. Frustrated by the lack of guidance from a 2005 affordable housing plan that had no enforcement nor impact, she advocated for a plan that gives clear direction to developers, residents, and staff. Muriel also fought to provide a grant during the pandemic to our businesses so they could open safely. Muriel is in your corner. Re-elect Muriel Collison as Village Trustee!

I met Dan Pepoon while both of us were serving on the Plan Commission. Dan had served 15 years in that capacity. When Jason Han moved from Northbrook, Dan was the logical and experienced choice to fill Jason's Village Trustee seat. Dan is always prepared and is never "off the cuff." You can count on Dan to advocate for flexibility with our local businesses whenever possible. Dan has spent his career in banking and finance and is committed to fiscal responsibility. Dan also served on the Bike Commission. He consistently advocates for sustainability for our Village. Dan thoughtfully deliberates prior to making a vote, carefully weighing the issues. Dan listens to the residents and whether you send him an email, appear at a board meeting or chat with him while waiting for the train. your opinion always matters to him. Dan Pepoon for Village Trustee!

Joy Ebhomielen and I cheered on our sons as they ran for the GBN track team. She has been a dedicated school volunteer while also serving on the Community Relations Board and working with the Northfield Food Pantry. As you get to know Joy, you realize that her commitment to public service is a driving force in her life. She is the daughter of parents who built and ran a hospital in Awo-Ommama, Nigeria during their retirement. Joy serves as an active member on the hospital board, continuing her parents' noble legacy. Joy has vast financial experience with over 15 years working in commercial lending. Joy is known for "doing her homework" and does she ever! You will find a prepared and thoughtful trustee with Joy Ebhomielen. Joy's voice is needed on the Village Board. Joy Ebhomielen for Village Trustee!

Please vote for Ciesla, Collison, Ebhomielen and Pepoon!

Thank you, Johannah "JoJo" Hebl, Village of Northbrook Trustee
