Two arrested in Fox Lake on charges of manufacturing, distributing cannabis
Two people were arrested on charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing cannabis in Fox Lake Monday, authorities said.
The Fox Lake Police Department pulled over Maribel Gonzalez. 28, of North Chicago for speeding, according to a news release from The Fox Lake Police Department. During the traffic stop, officers smelled cannabis coming from the vehicle.
The officers searched the car and found about 400 grams of cannabis and $2,875.87 in cash, reports said. The cannabis was individually packaged in smaller amounts, designed to look like it may have been purchased at a dispensary, the news release said.
Gonzalez and a passenger in the car, Anthony Deshazor, 31, of Chicago were both arrested. Gonzalez was charged with speeding, operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, driving with a revoked license, manufacturing and delivery of cannabis, and possession of cannabis. Deshazor was charged with manufacturing and delivery of cannabis, and possession of cannabis, according to the news release.
Deshazor and Gonzalez appeared in a Lake County video bond court Tuesday. Bond was set at $20,000 each.
Both are being held at the Lake County jail.
