State police announce special traffic enforcement campaign

Illinois State Police District 15 officers will conduct Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols between March 17 and March 26 on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) in DuPage and Kane counties, the Tri-State Tollway (I-94/I-294/I-80) in Cook and Lake counties and the Veterans memorial Tollway (I-355) in DuPage and Will counties.

Officials said the goal of the program is to increase statewide safety belt usage by vigorously enforcing all Illinois occupant restraint laws.

Troopers will have a zero-tolerance approach to unrestrained occupants of motor vehicles during the patrols. Illinois law requires all occupants of a motor vehicle to be properly restrained regardless of where they are sitting.
