Reimbursement checks in the mail for District 203 taxpayers

Naperville Unit District 203 taxpayers can soon expect to receive their property tax relief checks in the mail, officials said.

Faced with an unexpected surplus after schools shut down last spring, the school board in January approved a total $10 million tax reimbursement to help ease the financial burden of the COVID-19 crisis.

Those checks are being processed in batches and sent out based on ZIP code. Checks are being prepared for mailing for residents and property owners within 60565, while all other ZIP codes within the district were sent out Tuesday or last week.

Sites eligible for the reimbursement include taxable homestead, commercial and industrial properties, according to district officials. The amount of money being reimbursed to each eligible site is proportional to the amount of taxes paid.
