COVID-19 claims two in Glenview, Northbrook in past week

One person in Northbrook and another in Glenview died of COVID-19 in the past week, and 89 people in the two towns were newly diagnosed with the disease, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, deaths now stand at 111 since the pandemic began, with 2,729 positive cases, 27 of them in the past week.

In Glenview, 100 people have died since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 3,750 people test positive overall, 62 of them in the past week.

As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County had 230,109 cases and 4,506 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago, there were 245,277 cases and 4,894 deaths.

There have been 507,300 COVID-19 cases across suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties as of Tuesday.

That's almost 42.7% of the state's total, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. There have been 8,507 deaths in the suburbs, which is 41.3% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.

Total cases statewide stand at 1,189,416, and 20,583 Illinoisans have died since the pandemic began.
