Vaccination site for Cook County residents coming to Des Plaines

A mass coronavirus vaccination site will open at the former Kmart at 1155 E Oakton St. in Des Plaines, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is set to announce Wednesday.

The vaccination site will serve Cook County residents in Phase 1A and 1B, which includes health care personnel, residents of long-term care facilities, people older than 75, police, teachers and other essential workers.

The vaccines will be available by appointment only. You can register online at vaccine.cookcountyil.gov or by calling (833) 308-1988, according to an alert sent to Elk Grove Village residents by Mayor Craig Johnson.

Elk Grove Village is also working to partner with a pharmacy to host a vaccination event in the community in the future, Johnson said in the alert.
