Lincolnshire police issue 58 speeding tickets during two-day campaign

Lincolnshire police say officers issued 58 speeding tickets earlier this month during a speed enforcement campaign on routes 21 and 22.

The campaigns - called "2/1 on Route 21" and "2/2 on Route 22" - were funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation and held in conjunction with the Vernon Hills Police Department,

Police said speeding remains a significant problem in Lincolnshire, and is the number one complaint the department receives. Illinois is in the top four states for most speeding-related traffic crashes with fatalities, according to the department.

Besides the speeding citations, officers made three arrests for driving without a valid license, two for driving on a revoked or suspended license, issued three tickets for operating an uninsured vehicle and issued nine written warnings.
