Playground fundraisers set for Westcott, Willowbrook schools

Night of Chocolate

The Wescott School PTO hosts Chocolate 101, taught virtually by renowned Chicago-based pastry chef Gale Gand, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 12. She will demonstrate two chocolate desserts, plus teach the history of chocolate, how it's grown, harvested, and made into bars. Recipes and a Zoom link will be sent out in advance to those who register. The event is free but there is a suggested donation. For information, visit district30.org/westcott.

Gand also is a cookbook author, television personality, and winner of the 2001 James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef. She was host of the Food Network show Sweet Dreams and a partner and the founding Executive Pastry Chef at Tru, a contemporary fine-dining restaurant affiliated with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises.

Winter raffle

Fundraising for Willowbrook School's new playground is underway, and everyone is invited to buy raffle tickets and bid on silent auction items.

The online fundraise is being held in place of the annual parent social event.
