DuPage forest preserve golf revenue up in 2020

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's golf courses in Addison, Wood Dale and Westmont though saw a combined $4.4 million in revenue through November, which is a roughly $835,000 increase compared to 2019.

Executive Director Ed Stevenson announced the financial results during Tuesday's forest preserve board meeting.

With golf being one of the safer activities to do during the COVID-19 pandemic, Stevenson said the forest preserve saw increases in green fees, cart rentals and merchandise sales. Food and beverage sales were down about 16% due to clubhouse restrictions and the cancellation of banquets and other special events.

"Overall, we saw a demand that led to a 38% increase in green fee revenue over just the prior year," Stevenson said. "The results were fairly remarkable despite the late start to the season, the loss of revenues for the month of April and further restrictions in May and even into June."
