Montgomery police: Aurora man died from gunshot injuries

An Aurora man found with a gunshot wound in his vehicle earlier this week has died from his injuries, Montgomery police said Thursday.

Police and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the shooting on the Route 30 overpass near Route 31.

Police were called shortly after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to a possible car accident on the Route 30 bridge. Officers found one vehicle and a driver, identified as Andrew Contreras, 29, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Contreras was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries, according to a news release.

Montgomery detectives and evidence technicians as well as the county task force responded to the scene to gather additional information.
