Des Plaines mayoral candidate to stay on ballot

A Des Plaines resident has ended his attempt to get mayoral candidate Andrew Goczkowski removed from the ballot, the complainant's attorney announced. Mike Lake dropped his case Friday after Goczkowski's attorney provided evidence indicating signatures on Goczkowski's petitions were legitimate and the forms were properly notarized. Goczkowski, the city's 8th Ward alderman, is one of four mayoral candidates in the April 6 election. The others are 6th Ward Alderman Malcolm Chester, former 4th Ward Alderman Dick Sayad and former 8th Ward Alderman Michael Charewicz. A hearing is scheduled Monday for a challenge to city clerk candidate Justin Cochran's petitions. That challenge was filed by the other candidate in the clerk's race, Jessica M. Mastalski.
