Lake County officials: Boy abducted by biological parents found in Indiana

Authorities found a Lake County boy in an Indiana hotel room with his biological mother and father after they abducted him from a Christmas party Friday in Fremont Township, officials said. Both parents are being held with kidnapping charges in Clark County, Indiana.

Holly A. Adcox took 8-year-old Enrique Sanchez at about 8 p.m. Friday from a gathering on the 26400 block of Route 83 in Fremont Township, officials said. Adcox, 27, does not have custody, and Enrique's grandmother has been his legal guardian since he was a year old, sheriff's officers said.

Enrique and Adcox were attending the same gathering but Adcox did not have permission to leave with the boy, authorities said.

According to a Lake County sheriff's department statement, Adcox and Enrique's biological father, 30-year-old Federico E. Sanchez, "planned on abducting and fleeing with Enrique."

Lake County sheriff's detectives learned that Adcox, Enrique Sanchez and Federico Sanchez were likely in Sellersburg, Indiana. Lake County Sheriff's detectives contacted local authorities and had them check hotels in the area, according to an update Saturday night. Police located the Toyota Camry they were driving and found the three in a hotel room, according to the update.

Enrique is safe and is being held in protective custody until his legal guardians arrive, authorities said Saturday.
