NORTHBROOK IN BRIEF

Welcome aboard

The slate has been set to fill vacancies on the 2021 board of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

With no alternative candidates nominated in the chamber's Nov. 12 board meeting, three new board members will be sworn into leadership positions in January to serve three-year terms.

They are: Lee Brooks, Bell Flavors & Fragrances; Mark DeBartolo, Len Roofing & Remodeling; and Amy Kahhat, First Bank of Highland Park.

These new members will fill vacancies left by Michael Nortman, Crossroad Partners; the retiring Tom Fortman, Bell Flavors & Fragrances; and the late Paul Kaufmann, Shred Spot.

A new participant also has been selected for the chamber's Executive Board. Joining chair Bob Caldwell of Hallmark Homecare and treasurer Steve Schmit of Wiss Janney Elstner Associates Inc. will be current board member Katie Roberts, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Chicago.

Both will participate in a question-and-answer session following each broadcast.

Dogs and cats

Yes, the West Suburban Humane Society is based in Downers Grove, but the volunteer-based, no-kill animal shelter serves six counties, including Cook.

The Humane Society is presenting its sixth annual "Pawction" fundraiser through 8 p.m. Dec. 13. It's an online bidding fundraiser to benefit homeless dogs and cats at the shelter. Items include gift baskets, jewelry, art, home decor, a simple donation to the shelter, and much more.

Every dollar raised goes to help provide care and training for the dogs and cats at the shelter. To get involved, visit wshs2020.givesmart.com.
