District 30 update

Dr. Brian Wegley, superintendent of Glenview/Northbrook School District 30, announced an update to district families on Dec. 11.

The district includes Maple School for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders, and Wescott and Willowbrook elementary schools.

The schools are in a fully remote adaptive pause learning schedule until Jan. 19, with winter recess set from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1.

Wegley noted 45 students had opted to join in-person learning from the remote model for the 2021 portion of the school year. Twenty-two students had requested to move from in-person learning to fully remote.

Due to students moving into the district, an additional full-remote fifth-grade section will be added. That will provide for two fourth- and fifth-grade sections apiece once the adaptive pause concludes.

Kindergarten through third grade will continue to be full-time in-person sections; the hybrid model will continue for fourth through eighth grades.

The district's 2021 hybrid schedule has been updated and is available on the district's calendar page, accessible on the district website at www.district30.org.

Wegley also issued a reminder of the district's "Winter Sing." Held virtually on Dec. 18, it's coordinated by the district's music teachers and "includes the entire District 30 family," the superintendent noted.
