Free COVID tests will be available in Elgin, Hampshire

An Illinois Department of Public Health mobile unit will provide free COVID-19 tests in Kane County next week.

The mobile testing unit will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at the Elgin Sports Complex, 709 Sports Way, and Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Hampshire High School, 1600 Big Timber Road.

Testing is open to all regardless of symptoms. A phone number and name are required to receive testing results. Photo ID is not required.

Those using drive-through testing must be seated at a functioning window. Viral testing will be used, consisting of a nasal swab. Antibody testing will not be provided at this site. Test results are expected in four to seven calendar days.
