Des Plaines man accused of sending private sexual images

A Des Plaines man who authorities say sent out intimate, unclothed photos of a woman to two other people has been charged with nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images.

Paul Scropos, 42, is also charged with violating the court supervision he received on a 2019 disorderly conduct charge. He was ordered held on a total bail of $15,000 plus electronic and GPS monitoring. He must post $1,500 to be released while his case is pending.

Additionally, Cook County Judge Ellen Mandeltort ordered Scropos have no contact with the woman or the people to whom he is alleged to have sent the photos.

The woman consented to taking the photos but did not consent to their distribution, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Loukas Kalliantasis.

On Aug. 2, Scropos sent four photos to the woman's boyfriend, Kalliantasis said. Palatine police linked those photos to Scropos after determining the phone number from which the photos were sent matched his phone number. Early on Aug. 3, Scropos sent two photos to another man via social media, Kalliantasis said. Police linked those photos to Scropos after determining the screen name from the social media app matched Scropos' social media page. If convicted, Scropos could face up to three years in prison. Probation is also an option. He next appears in court Dec. 18.
