A 22-year-old Lockport woman faces felony charges after police say she stole a puppy from a Naperville pet store last weekend.

Alicia Johnson-Medrano is accused of leaving Petland about 7:25 p.m. Saturday with a female Yorkshire terrier, valued at $9,900, inside her jacket, according to a news release from Naperville police.

Responding officers found Johnson-Medrano and arrested her outside the store at 720 S. Route 59, police said. The puppy was returned unharmed to Petland employees.

Johnson-Medrano, of the 16700 block of Apache Drive, was charged with one count of theft and retail theft, police said. She is held at the DuPage County jail.
