Fox River Grove-area man charged with soliciting child pornography

A Fox River Grove-area man was arrested Wednesday on allegations he contacted a juvenile over a dating application and solicited pornographic images.

Shawn M. Davy, 37, faces three counts of solicitation of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography stemming from an investigation launched in February, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation led to the sheriff's office, Illinois attorney general's office and Genoa Police Department executing a search warrant Wednesday at a house in the 2100 block of Evergreen Avenue near Fox River Grove, authorities said. The warrant led to information sufficient to charge Davy, sheriff's police said.

According to the sheriff's office, Geneva police contacted the attorney general's office for assistance in the investigation earlier this year. Davy was subsequently identified as a suspect who messaged a juvenile victim on a dating application and began soliciting images, authorities said.

Davy was scheduled to appear in bond court later Thursday morning, officials said.
