DuPage County to close traffic courts for more than a month

An earlier version gave an incorrect number of traffic courts. There are four.

The DuPage County traffic courts will close starting Nov. 23 because of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the county.

Chief Judge Daniel Guerin announced the closure Monday.

The courts - one in Downers Grove and three at the main courthouse in Wheaton - will be closed through Dec. 31.

Cases will be rescheduled to dates at least 28 business days from their current dates. The court clerk will send notices via mail.

The general public may also view court dates at epay.18thjudicial.org.

"In order to protect the health and safety of court employees and the general public, we decided that continuing traffic matters through the end of this year was the responsible and prudent step to take in response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases," Guerin said in a news release.
