DuPage launches site to honor veterans

In lieu of its annual Veterans Day ceremony, DuPage County will provide a virtual gathering place to celebrate veterans.

The county's information technology and geographic information system teams created an interactive Veterans Day portal, which can be found at www.dupageco.org/veteran. The site allows residents to create an honor post highlighting their loved one or friend, along with a photo and written tribute.

"Although we cannot gather in-person, it's still important that we recognize those brave men and women who answered the call of service to their country," county board Chairman Dan Cronin said in a statement. "We hope many of our residents can create posts so that we may all share in these heartfelt tributes to our military veterans."

The website also features quotes, poems, videos and historical information about Veterans Day.
