Maple Park village president won't seek reelection in April

Maple Park Village President Kathleen Curtis announced Tuesday that she won't seek reelection in April.

"Serving Maple Park has been an honor and a blessing," Curtis said in a statement. "However, it is time for me to redirect my energies to my family."

Curtis was sworn in as a village trustee in 2005 and served as the finance committee chair before becoming village president in 2009. Her term expires April 30.

In addition to the 4-year term for village president, the April ballot in Maple Park will include three 4-year trustee seats and a 2-year unexpired term vacancy.

Petition packets can be picked up at the village office at 302 Willow St. or can be accessed at the village website. Petitions must be submitted to the village clerk between Dec. 14 and Dec. 21,
