Fox Lake woman killed in crash
A 74-year old Fox Lake woman was killed Friday afternoon in a crash at Route 137 and I-94 in Green Oaks.
The Lake County sheriff's office said the woman was a front-seat passenger in a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic that collided with a 2007 Ford Five Hundred.
The sheriff's office said the Chevrolet, driven by a 76-year-old Fox Lake man, had been heading eastbound on Route 137 and was either trying to make a U-turn or a left turn onto I-94 when it was struck on the passenger side by the Ford, driven by a 63-year-old Libertyville woman, that was headed westbound on Route 137.
A 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 32-year-old Wauconda man, was directly behind the Ford, deputies said. To avoid an impact, the motorcyclist dropped his bike and slid on the ground.
The 74-year-old woman was pronouced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.
The driver of the Ford was also taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries. The motorcycle driver was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.
The Lake County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
