Vendors bring arts, crafts, and more to 1st Artisan & Maker Market in Vernon Hills

About a dozen vendors lined the parking lot of Hawthorn Mall near Macy's for the 1st Artisan & Maker Market Sunday in Vernon Hills.

Offerings ranged from art work- and holiday-themed crafts to custom-made golf putters and face masks. A produce vendor and a mobile wood-fired pizza maker added flavor to the event.

Vendors appreciated the great weather the fall day had to offer, even if it didn't get the crowds they were hoping for.

Jamie Bushroe of Fox River Grove, who was helping her mom sell her custom novelty face masks, said that on a good day they usually sell about 100 masks at a craft show. “Today was not a good day,” she said.

The market is scheduled to take place each Saturday and Sunday through October.
