Geneva Holiday House Tour canceled
Another annual tradition has taken a hit from the COVID-19 pandemic after the Geneva Chamber of Commerce decided to cancel this year's Holiday House Tour in December.
The logistic difficulty of allowing people in and out of multiple houses the first weekend in December proved too much to overcome for the Chamber, which is working on safer alternatives to celebrate the holidays.
"We felt this decision is for the safety of our Holiday House Tour visitors, homeowners, decorators and volunteers," Geneva Chamber President Paula Schmidt said in a statement. "We know holidays in Geneva are very popular and looked forward to, not only by the locals, but visitors to Geneva as well. This event has become a tradition for families and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2021."
The Geneva Christmas Walk remains scheduled for Dec. 4, although the Chamber is still working on the best and safest way to hold the event. Residents should look for updates on the Chamber website.
"We thank the community for their support and know that the Geneva Chamber is working on creative ways to have smaller, permittable events," Geneva Chamber Communications Manager Laura Rush said in a statement.
