Palatine man, two juveniles charged in robbery

Police charged three people in a Palatine robbery, according to a news release from the Palatine Police Department.

Authorities responded to the 1400 block of Ports O'Call Drive Monday after a report of an armed robbery. After police arrived, they found the male victim, who said he was approached in a parking lot by two teenagers who exited a black SUV. They demanded he give up his money and valuables, but he refused, prompting one of the teenagers to pull out a gun and point it at the victim, authorities said. Both teenagers began punching the victim and the driver of the SUV also got out and started punching the victim while the teenagers took his wallet from his pocket, police said.

After the incident, authorities located a fake gun that had been used by one of the teenagers, the release said.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Marck A. Burgos, 24, of Palatine. A 15-year-old and 16-year-old male, both from Palatine, were identified as the other offenders.

Burgos was charged with one count of aggravated robbery. He was taken to the Cook County Third District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a bond hearing Thursday, where his bond was set at $75,000. His next court date is Oct. 2 in Rolling Meadows. The two juveniles were charged with aggravated robbery and taken to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago.
