Elmhurst seeks to fill aldermanic seat

Elmhurst Mayor Steven Morley is accepting applications to fill the 2nd Ward vacancy on the city council left by former alderman Norman Leader, who recently resigned from office due to a change in residency.

"Alderman Leader has been serving the residents of Elmhurst as 2nd Ward Alderman for 16 years," Morley said in a statement. "We are thankful for his dedication to our community and wish him the very best in his future."

With the advice and consent of the city council, Morley will appoint a replacement to the 2nd Ward aldermanic seat. The person will serve until the April 2021 election.

Candidates must complete an official application from the city's website at elmhurst.org and also are encouraged to include resumes and/or letters of intent. Applications can be emailed to CityAdmin@elmhurst.org or mailed to the City Clerk's Office at 209 N. York St.

Applications will be accepted through the close of business on Oct. 2.
