Buffalo Grove man charged with aggravated stalking after GPS devices found

A Buffalo Grove man was arrested Sept. 10 and charged with aggravated stalking after placing GPS devices on his ex-girlfriend's vehicle, Palatine police said.

A woman made contact in Niles on June 12 with Leonid Mileykovsky, her 58-year-old ex-boyfriend, and again in Wheeling a few days later, according to a news release from the Palatine Police Department. Soon after the encounter in Wheeling, she found a GPS tracking device on her vehicle. She confronted him about it and he admitted to placing two devices on her vehicle, she said. She obtained an order of protection against him, according to the release. From June 27 to Aug. 30 she found six more tracking devices on her vehicle. Palatine police recovered seven tracking devices total, all registered to Mileykovsky. Authorities also found an app on his cellphone he'd been using to surveil her between June 12 and Sept. 10, reports said.

After he was arrested, he admitted to purchasing and placing the GPS devices on the vehicle on at least five occasions, the release said. He was taken to the Criminal Court Building at 26th and California in Chicago and his bond was set at $10,000. If he posts bond, he'll be placed on electronic monitoring, authorities said. His next court date is set for Oct. 1 at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.
