Video: Watch the full debate between Vanderventer and Czyszczon in race for Lake County recorder

The two candidates for Lake County recorder of deeds debated needs facing the office and the transition priorities if voters also approve a Nov. 3 ballot question to merge the recorder's office with the Lake County clerk's office during a Zoom interview with members of the Daily Herald Editorial Board.

Incumbent Mary Ellen Vanderventer, a Democrat from Waukegan, and Republican opponent Emilia Czyszczon of Deerfield discussed those issues and others in a wide-ranging interview that ran about an hour.

Vanderventer is seeking her seventh term at recorder. Czyszczon, who has an MBA and has worked in government, academia and industry, is making her first run for elected office.
