St. Charles man charged with sexually assaulting a minor

A 26-year-old St. Charles man faces charges he sexually assaulted a minor he contacted on social media.

Eduardo Castillo-Vivaldo, of the 1800 block of Wessel Court, has been charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual assault and four felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, authorities said Wednesday.

Prosecutors allege Castillo-Vivaldo contacted the victim on social media, despite being told multiple times the victim is a minor. Then on Aug. 20, Castillo-Vivaldo drove to the victim's home in northwestern Kane County and - using force and despite the victim's pleas to stop - sexually assaulted the victim, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

After a warrant was issued for his arrest, Castillo-Vivaldo surrendered Monday to police. He is held at the Kane County jail on $100,000 bail.

His next court date is Friday.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Kane County Child Advocacy Center at (630) 208-5160.
