Florida man charged with firing gun in Bartlett

A Florida man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly firing a gun at the ground in a business parking lot in Bartlett.

James A. Gorsich, Jr., 32, of Port St. Lucie, was charged with a Class 4 felony for reckless discharge of a firearm and a Class A misdemeanor for possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner's Identification card by the DuPage County state's attorney's office.

About 10 p.m. Tuesday, Bartlett police officers responded to a call of shots fired in the parking lot of a business on the 1500 block of Hecht Drive.

A witness alleged he heard a loud bang, then noticed a man holding an object in his hand that the witness believed to be a firearm, police said.

Officers reported finding a loaded 45-caliber magazine and a 45-caliber bullet outside of Gorsich's 2014 Volvo tractor trailer. They also located an unloaded Springfield XD 45-caliber handgun, several 45-caliber bullets and a spent shell casing inside the cab of the tractor trailer, according to the investigation report.

Gorsich was taken to the DuPage County Jail to await his bail bond hearing. He was later issued a $5,000 bail bond and a court date of Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the DuPage County court facility in Wheaton.
