West Chicago man gets 7 years in prison for sex assault of child

A West Chicago man was sentenced Aug. 12 to seven years in prison for predatory criminal sexual assault.

Fernando Silva, 65, who lived in the 100 block of Blair Street, pleaded guilty Nov. 22, 2019, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

He was charged with having sexual contact with the victim, who was younger than 13, in 2018. Silva knew the victim.

Silva will have serve at least 85% of the sentence, and will receive credit for 780 days spent in the Kane County jail. He will have to register for the rest of his life as a sex offender.
