Free COVID-19 testing offered in Carpentersville, Elgin

A mobile unit managed by the Illinois Department of Public Health returns to Kane County this weekend to offer free coronavirus tests.

Drive-through and walk-up testing will be available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Dundee Crown High School, 1500 Kings Road, Carpentersville. The same hours apply to a mobile testing site Saturday and Sunday at Kimball Middle School, 451 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin.

A name and phone number are required to receive testing results, which are expected in four to seven days, according to a Kane County Health Department news release. The viral testing, available to anyone regardless of symptoms, consists of a nasal swab and is used to detect a current COVID-19 infection.

Those being tested in the drive-through lanes must be seated at a functioning window.

Last week, 2,156 tests were taken at seven mobile sites throughout the community, officials said.

Free testing also is available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall, 1650 Premium Outlet Blvd., Aurora.
