A Highwood man was charged with sex crimes after a search warrant executed at his home found hundreds of images and digital videos of child pornography, according to a news release from the Lake County state's attorney and the Lake County sheriff's department.

Thomas Keller, 40, of the 300 block of Grove Avenue, was ordered held in Lake County jail on $750,000 bail. He was represented by a public defender at Friday's bond hearing.

Keller is due back in court on Aug. 13.

"Crimes like this one that specifically prey on children are some of the most disgusting crimes we face in our office," said Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim. "I want to recognize the hard work put in by my staff and all the officers and departments involved in this case."

"This is a terrific example of law enforcement coming together to keep our most vulnerable safe," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg added.
