No injuries in fire at Naperville Red Roof Inn

No injuries were reported after Naperville firefighters extinguished a small fire Thursday afternoon on the third-floor exterior stairwell of the Red Roof Inn on the 1600 block of W. Diehl Road, authorities said.

Firefighters responded at 2:39 p.m., contained the fire to the stairwell and extinguished it within five minutes of their arrival. A maintenance worker had used an extinguisher before crews arrived.

The building was evacuated, but was deemed habitable and no patrons were displaced.

Crews ventilated the building to remove any lingering smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
