Fire damages Lombard restaurant

A fire Thursday night in Lombard means an Indian restaurant is expected to be closed for "some time," authorities said Friday.

The fire broke out about 9:55 p.m. at 40 W. Roosevelt Road, where the Indian and Pakistani restaurant Biryani Pointe is located.

Firefighters found the business closed and filled with smoke when they arrived at the scene. Crews forced entry, then found and quickly put out the fire, the Lombard Fire Department said in a news release.

The fire caused heat and smoke damage to the restaurant, so the fire department said it "will be inoperable for some time."

Adjoining units in the small strip mall on the north side of Roosevelt Road, just west of Main Street, suffered "only smoke damage," authorities said. No one was injured in the fire.

The Lombard Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. Crews were assisted on scene by firefighters from Oak Brook, Wheaton, Lisle-Woodridge and York Center.
