Willowbrook woman charged with battery to sheriff's deputy

A 37-year-old Willowbrook woman has been charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and other offenses in connection with a Monday case in which authorities say a juvenile shot a friend in the chest while showing him a gun.

In addition to the battery charge, Ebonee Moss also is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and endangering the health or life of a child, authorities said.

Moss has been released on a $10,000 bond and is next due in DuPage County court on July 15.

Three juveniles already face charges in the case that began when sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim in a Willowbrook apartment complex,

They said the victim was shot in the chest but is expected to recover from his wound.

Authorities said it appears one juvenile was handling the weapon when Moss tried to take it away and the gun went off.

As the victim was being taken from the apartment, authorities said, the juvenile punched a deputy in the face and placed another deputy in a chokehold from behind and tried to steal his firearm. He has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, attempting to disarm a police officer and two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer.

Two other juveniles who were at the scene also have been charged with aggravated battery to a police officer.

Authorities say Moss was charged with aggravated battery because she grabbed one of the deputies from behind by their body armor.

She was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allowing an underage boy to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana in her residence, according to court records. The "endangering" charge came because she possessed the firearm that was used in the shooting.
