Route 20 resurfacing work

Resurfacing work starts this week on a stretch of Route 20 (Elgin Bypass) from Plank Road in Plato Township, to Shales Parkway/Bluff City Boulevard in Elgin, that will require daily, intermittent lane closures.

The Illinois Department of Transportation project, which consists of patching and resurfacing the 7.4-mile stretch of Route 20, is expected to be completed in September. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction, according to an IDOT news release.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.

Updates on the impacts to traffic in the region are available at www.travelmidwest.com.
