Wheaton library's Café on the Park reopening Friday

A cafe inside the Wheaton Public Library will reopen Friday for carryout and patio dining overlooking Adams Park.

Café on the Park will serve its full menu of coffee drinks, fruit scones, doughnuts and wraps. It's also offering offer an early bird special of 50% off any item during the first hour of business. Its new hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.

The cafe's coffee vendor is I Have a Bean, a Wheaton-based roaster that employs formerly incarcerated people.

While the library remains closed and virtual programming continues throughout the summer, curbside pickup will start for cardholders June 1.

Patrons must request items in advance through their online library account at catalog.wheatonlibrary.org or by calling (630) 909-9698. They'll receive instructions to follow when their items are ready.

Curbside pickup will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays as well as 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Patrons also can drop off books starting June 1. The library will quarantine returned materials for seven days. No fines will be charged while the library is closed.
