Lake Villa library launching summer reading program June 1

Summer in the Neighborhood, Lake Villa District Library's summer reading program, begins Monday, June 1.

Everyone is invited to read books and do activities for chances to win prizes while helping the community. For each reading log completed, the library foundation will donate $1 to the Lake Villa Township Food Pantry.

All ages and reading levels are encouraged to set a goal of reading a certain number of minutes each day for 20 days. Reading to someone or being read to counts. Suggested reading lists for all age levels and interests will be available at www.lvdl.org/summer beginning June 1.

The program, which runs through Aug. 9, will highlight four titles that focus on the life and legacy of children's television pioneer Fred Rogers.
