Libertyville cancels Memorial Day ceremony in favor of virtual version

Libertyville's in-person Memorial Day ceremony has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic so the village will host a virtual version instead. The ceremony will occur at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, and will be streamed live via Facebook @LibertyvilleVOL. Mayor Terry Weppler will be emcee and World War II veteran Don Carter will be the featured speaker. The ceremony also will include an invocation and singing of the national anthem and God Bless America. Village officials also have prerecorded the reading of names at the Lakeside Cemetery veterans memorial and other aspects that will be available for viewing at libertyville.com.
