A Schaumburg native and longtime educator, Amanda Brode-Rico, has been named principal at Lake Park High School in Roselle.

She'll take the reins July 1, to replace Dominic Manola, who will become principal at East Leyden High School.

Brode-Rico has been an educator for 17 years, including 15 as a high school teacher. She served as a teacher and team leader for 13 years at Curie Metro High School in Chicago.

During the 2018-2019 school year, she served as resident principal of Infinity Math, Science, and Technology High School in Chicago and this school year as assistant principal at Proviso West in Hillside.

She was selected after several rounds of interviews that included students, parents, teachers, coaches, board members and community representatives, Superintendent-elect Jeff Feucht said in a statement.

Currently a doctoral candidate in the Urban Education Leadership Program at the University of Illinois, Chicago, Brode-Rico holds a master's in special education from Concordia University in River Forest; a master's in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois, Chicago; and a bachelor's in history and education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

She is fluent in Spanish and is an avid marathon runner.
