May 16 COVID-19 cases per county; search by ZIP code

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,088 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday in Illinois, including 74 additional deaths.

Here are the number of deaths by county: Clinton County (1), Cook County: (54, 37 of them aged 70 or older), DuPage County (6), Jasper County: (1), Kane County (2), Lake County (2), LaSalle (1), Madison County (1), St. Clair County (2), Will County (3) and Winnebago County (1)

The IDPH is now reporting a total of 92,457 cases, including 4,129 deaths in 100 counties in Illinois.

The age of cases range from younger than one to older than 100 years.

Through Saturday, laboratories reported an additional 23,047 specimens for a total of 561,649. Of those, 92,457 people have tested positive for the virus. The statewide seven-day rolling positivity rate is 15 percent.

Here are numbers for local counties and selected suburbs:

Cook County

• As of Saturday, the Cook County Department of Public Health and medical examiner' office has listed a total of 61 COVID-19 deaths in Des Plaines, 6 in Mount Prospect, 13 in Wheeling, 9 in Streamwood, 26 in Glenview, 7 in Palatine, 7 in Schaumburg, 6 in Hoffman Estates, 13 in Arlington Heights, 6 in Park Ridge, 7 in Rolling Meadows, 7 in Elk Grove Village, 3 in Prospect Heights and 9 in Buffalo Grove (Cook County portion).

DuPage County

• Through Saturday, the DuPage County Health Department reports a total of 5,793 confirmed cases and 291 deaths on its coronavirus website.

• Cases per suburb include 526 in Addison, 504 in West Chicago, 402 in Glendale Heights, 381 in Bensenville, 364 in Carol Stream, 352 in Naperville (DuPage portion), 227 in Lombard, 200 in Aurora (DuPage County portion), 188 in Elmhurst, 162 in Downers Grove, 154 in Villa Park, 151 in Wheaton, 112 in Willowbrook and 107 in Glen Ellyn.

Lake County

• The Lake County Health Department listed 6,189 confirmed cases and 196 deaths as of Friday. Cases in some towns: 1,769 in Waukegan; 239 in Mundelein; 174 in Gurnee; 124 in Round Lake; 114 in Vernon Hills; 64 in Libertyville; 79 each in Wauconda and Buffalo Grove (Lake County portion); 69 in Lake Zurich; 59 in Grayslake and 29 in Lake Villa.

Kane County

• The Kane County Health Department confirmed 4,342 cases with 111 deaths on its website through Saturday.

Cases per town include 2004 in Aurora (Kane County portion), 966 in Elgin (Kane portion), 386 in Carpentersville, 180 in South Elgin, 168 in St. Charles, 99 in Geneva, 90 in North Aurora, 71 in Batavia and 31 in Algonquin (Kane County portion).

McHenry County

• There have been 1,162 cases and 61 deaths in McHenry County, according to its health department website on Saturday.

Will County

• There have been 4,312 cases of COVID-19 and 240 deaths, according to the county health department website on Saturday

Through Friday, cases per town include 250 in Naperville (Will County portion), and 45 in Aurora (Will County portion).

Sun-Times: Cook County is now the county with most COVID-19 cases in U.S.
