Longtime Geneva District 304 school board member Mark Grosso resigns
Geneva Unit District 303 is accepting applications to replace longtime school board member Mark Grosso, who is resigning due to health concerns, officials said.
Grosso was first elected in 2009 and was appointed three years later as board president. He held the position until last month, when he stepped down and handed over the reins to then-Vice President Taylor Egan during a virtual meeting.
"It has been an honor to have worked with outstanding board members, superintendent and staff," Grosso said in his resignation letter.
Applicants to fill the board vacancy must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of District 304 for at least a year, and a registered voter, according to a news release.
Grosso's replacement must be available for regular meetings, typically on the second and fourth Monday of each month, plus special meetings throughout the year. Board members also act as liaisons to various task forces, serve on committees and participate in professional development.
Interested applicants should email their resumes to board@geneva304.org and fill out an online application by May 29. Interviews will be conducted remotely the week of June 8.
