St. Charles Unit District 303 has hired a new principal to lead Wasco Elementary School next academic year.

Stephanie Brennan, a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities, was introduced to the school board during a virtual meeting Monday. She previously served as an assistant principal and principal in East Aurora School District 131, said Jan Geier, District 303 assistant superintendent for leadership and school improvement.

An interview team, which conducted the hiring process over Zoom, was impressed with Brennan's "commitment to and passion for students and families," Geier said. "In this day and age of remote learning, she's already making plans for how she can best connect herself to this new community."

Brennan has begun working with Wasco's current principal, Barbara Stokke, to ensure a smooth transition, Geier said.
